In about eight hours, I will be casting my vote in my third presidential election. And it couldn’t come a minute too soon as the non-stop barrage of media attention has about driven me crazy. And to top it all off, my phone has been ringing off the hook today with pre-recorded messages from candidates and supporters telling me how to vote (my favorite was non-other than California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who told me to flex my muscles and vote for George Bush). And you know me, I’ll do whatever the Kindergarten Cop tells me to.
So, the next 24 hours are going to be huge. I’m full of nervous energy as it is and waking up early to go vote is just the first step in what is going to be a long day of fingernail biting and TV watching. Things here in Ohio still seem to be up in the air with courts voting over whether or not challengers from the political parties can be present at the polls. Is that really necessary? Yeah, voter intimidation is really cool. Way to encourage people to take an active role in democracy. If anyone questions my right to vote tomorrow, I’ll just laugh in their face and ask them about their right to question me. So do democracy a favor and go vote on Tuesday!
